Q. What types of documents do you process?
A. Following is the list of documents that Intercom has processed on a regular basis:

Q. What type of composition you can work on?
A. Intercom has been serving the composition needs of UK and US based clients with diverse e-publishing requirements like Standard Generic Markup Language (SGML), XML, Miles, Quark Xpress, MS-Word for Windows, HTML, 3B2 etc.

Q. Do you scan our paper documents or just work with scanned files only?
A. We basically work with scanned images only, but have ties-ups with the scanning bureaus and can get your documents scanned if the volume is sufficient enough for a scanning bureau.

Q. What is the procedure for uploading and downloading of scanned files?
A. We provide you an ftp address to upload the TIF/GIF images and send you the coded reports via email or ftp. You can also send us data on CD's via postal mail at our NY office and then we shall upload the images for our Indian office to download.

Q. What turn around times do you offer?
A. We offer a turn around time of 12-48 hours depending on your requirements. Within 12 hours of the receipt of data, we send you an analysis report containing the number of images to be coded, sample code sheet and estimated time to code for data cross check.

Q. We are concerned about data security, what measures you have in place for the same?
A. Entire BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) model is based on data security and confidentiality. We can't do any business unless our client's data is secured. We have put in both technical and procedural policies for data security that guarantees maximum data protection. All the Internet transfer is done through s-ftp (secure ftp). At our production center, all the servers are under physical inspection and guarded by login id and password. There is no direct Internet access from production nodes. No employee can take out data files on floppy or cd drives and the entire area is guarded by digital cameras and physical inspection 24X7. All the employees are bound by confidentiality agreements and there is immediate termination clause for even a minor breach.

Q. Do you use OCR (Optical Character Reading) on the scanned images?
A. We use OCR only in cases where image files are scanned in a similar format and there can be an accuracy of 60% or more form the OCR files. Use of OCR, if taken, is limited to the first level of data entry only and there is a thorough check of each and every record by 2 levels of quality editors.

Q. What accuracy do you guarantee?
A. We guarantee an accuracy of up to 99.90% as per your requirement. Such a high accuracy is achieved through our double keying system where every coding entry is made twice and automatically compared with our proprietary software. Any discrepancy is rejected and the coding is done afresh for the rejected set of files.

Q. How much does the service cost?
A. We charge on project basis with details of every activity. Our clients find our rates at least 20-50% competitive in comparison to in-house or other outsourced companies, because of our Indian back office operations and innovative methods like templating, and smooth & informed workflow. Q. Other Countries / Companies offer lower costs?
A. We have devised a practical business model where technology and feedback is given from our US office and actual work is done in India. So there is practically no difference in terms of work quality and feedback between Intercom and any US based company, and you get the services at a huge cost difference. Our cost may be slightly higher in comparison to other purely Indian or Philippines based companies, but seeing the business model and value addition of having US base, justify our cost.

Q. What is the billing method??
A. We can bill you on per activity basis or even on different project stages as per your requirements. Billing is done bi-monthly with net 15 days term.

Q. Are there any charges for database creation or matching the output as per specific requirements?
A. We don't charge anything for database creation or for any specific database output if the work volume is substantial. For smaller volume, the database creation charges are very nominal..

Q. What payment methods are available?
A. Payment can be made by either by credit card, check or wire transfer.

Q. What if I want to test your services?
A. You are most welcome; you can talk to our sales representative and test us out without any charge or obligation.
